Narrative Text

Narrative text is a text that is used for the purpose of entertaining or amusing, creating ,stimulating emotions,motivating,guiding and teaching the readrs or the listeners and it usually deals with actual or vicious experience .

Narrative text such as : fable ( Mouse Deer and Crocodile ),legend/folk tables ( Sangkuriang ,Malin Kundang ),Fairy Tale ( Cinderella,Snow White ,Pinochio )

The generic of Narrative text :

1. Orientation : It sets  the scene and introduces the participants ( it answer the    questions = who,when,what,where )
2. Evaluation : A stepping back to evaluate the plight ( the information about  the narrator’s point of view ) .It’s optional.
3. Complication : A crisis or a problem arises.It usually involves the main characters
4. .Resulation   : A solution to the problem ( for better or worse ) main characters find ways to solve the problem.

Some important point in the story of narrative text are :

• It uses temporal conjunction : ex once upon a time ,before,after,etc.
• It uses simple past tense        : ex  there lived a……….one day…there was …etc

For the example of Narrative text :

“  Island  Rote “

Rote is small but a fertile island.Rote is located at the province of east Nusa Tenggara .There wasn’t any big town on the island ,but a small village.Not very far from that village ,there was a small hut.A woman and her grand daughter lived  in that hut.Every day the grand daughter was away,then she got busy in the kitchen cooking rice.In the afternoon both of them cooked the fish .When the meals were ready ,both are ravenously.

One day,the old woman told her grand daughter ,” My grand daughter from now on please cook one grain of  rice only a day .Please don’t forget about it,” said the grand daughter  earnestly then the girl got busy with the cooking.After  a short time ,she time ,she went to see whether the rice was well cooked .When she opened the lid of the cooking pot ,the content overflowed.

The girl time franticallt to catch the flowing rice with a bowl .But the rice continuosly overflowed.The girl got more franticly  seeing the rice flood ,the entire floor of the hut.The rice even flooded the garden outside .Crying,the girl ran out of the hut to look for her grand mother.On her way to beach ,the girl ran into her grand mother.She told everthing about the incident.Her grand mother got very mad at the because she didn’t obey her .The girl cried out for mecy.Her grand mother ,unfortunately ,kept on beating her.Suddenly the girl disappreared in a thin cloud .Not long after wards ,the could deared a away and thereb appeared a monkey .The girl has changed into  a monkey.

“ Now .Grand mother,you are all by yourself.Nobody else is going to cook the rice ,prepare the coffee ,and tall with you,”said the monkey.The grand mother got lost in receive .She deeply regretted  what she did

Present Tense

Present tense is simple form which used to express situation going into effect.

Simple present tense is used for : *kegunaan present tense*

*  Express habit, general truths, repeated actions or unchanging situation, emotions and whised.

*  Give instruction or direction.

*  To express arrangement.

Recount Text

Recount text are :

*  Use of simple pas tense. *karena menceritakan masa lampau*

*  Use of temporal conjunctions.

*  Use of personal pronoun.

Example :

Going To Amazon River

One day, when I went on a picnic to a lake I met somebody. He asked me some food. I gave him food and drink. After that, for return he gave me a carpet, a beautiful carpet. After giving the carpet, suddenly he was disappeared. I was surprised. Not long after that I sat on the carpet. Once again, I was surprised because the carpet could fly. It could take me everywhere.
One day, I visited Brazil. Before going there, I called my friends. Then, we bought fishing equipments. After ready, then we went to Amazon River. You know Amazon? It is a very famous river in Brazil. We went there because in Amazon there are some big fish.
We left home at 8 o’clock in the morning. One hour later, we arrived in Amazon River, and we went on fishing. Two minutes later, a fish ate my friend’s bait. He removed his bait, and … surprisingly, he got a piranha.
One hour later, our bucket was full of fish. But there were still a fish eating my bait. In this case, I could not remove my bait alone. The fish was very big and strong. With my friend’s help, finally I could remove the bait. We were very surprised because I got … you know … Arapaima. Arapaima was the biggest fish in Brazil.
After fishing in Amazon, we went home. Suddenly I heard a deep voice, “Fanny …, Fanny …Get up, my dear. It’s morning,” My mother called me. Then, I got up from my bed. “That’s too bad. I went to Brazil but that’s just a dream”. I dream of going to Brazil because before sleeping I read an Aladin book.
That’s my story. Although it’s only a dream, I believe it will happen in my future life.

Procedure Text

Procedure Text

Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is archived through a sequence of actions or step. It explains how people perform different processes of steps.

Language features

* Use SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE.
* Imperative tense.
* Temporal conjunction. (First, second, finally, etc)
* Use action verbs (turn on, stir, cook, etc)
 

The generic structure of procedure text 

1. Goal/aim (or title)
2. Ingredient (not required for all procedure text)
3. Step (the actions that must be follow)

Examples :

Gado - Gado

(Indonesian food)

Ingredients :


Lettuces, A small bunch of long beans, Young cabbage, 1 cucumber, Tofu, 100 gr soyabean cake, 2 eggs, 5 pieces of red chili pepper, 5 pieces of small chili pepper (jalapeno or scotch bonnet), 3 pieces of shallots, 100 gr. peanuts, lemon, brown sugar, and salt.


Steps :

* Fry an egg and soyabean cake
* Cut into small pieces
* Boil one egg and slice it
* Boil young cabbage, long beans, and slice them
* Peanut sauce:
* Fry peanuts
* Slice shallots, and brown with chili peppers
* Mix and grind all these with brown sugar, lemon, salt and pepper, and boil with a little bit of water. (Use this sauce with satay as well)  

Gudeg

(Indonesian food)

Ingredients :

1 kg young jackfruit, peeled, cut into pieces
1200 ml of coconut milk
4 eggs, boiled, peeled
20 chicken claw
1 pc out of china, cut into small dice
2 knuckles galangal, crushed
250 ml strong tea water
Spices:
100 grams of brown sugar
12 red onions
6 cloves garlic
6 eggs nutmeg
1 tablespoon coriander, toasted
1 teaspoon salt


Steps :

1. Mix all ingredients with the spices, except tea and coconut milk.
2. Put it in the slow cooker, pour the tea water, cook for 30 minutes.
3. Open the lid, pour the coconut milk, cook for 6 hours or until the milk runs out.
4. Remove and serve with warm rice.

Sympathy Expression

The definition of sympathy Expression  :

Sympathy Expression is an expression or feeling of pity  and sorrow when we know and see someone or people are unlucky or have trouble and in bad condition. By expressing sympathy we want to show our concern or carefulness on other people‘s condition.

How can we give sympathy expression to someone :

We express it directly to him/her orally or we  can use a letter or card by post also by short message service ( sms ), e-mail,television ,radio ,and newspaper if he /she who got the trouble is far from us.

Several expression  of sympathy :

Announcement

The definition of Announcement

Announcement is something said, written, or printed to make known what has happened or (more often) 

what will happen.

* In Writing an announcement keep following this point :

1. The title / type of event.

2. Date / time, place.

3. Contact person. 

* We can find the announcement on :

1. Television.

2. Radio.

3. Newspaper.                                                           

4. Billboard.

5. Megazine.

6. etc.

* An announcement usually starts with an expression yo get peoples attention, such as " Attention, please ". It 

usually ended with an expression of thanking.

Definition of advertisement :

Advertising is a communication whose is to inform potential costumers about to generic increased consumption of those product and service through the creation and reinforcement of brand loyalty.For these purposes advertisement often contain both factual information and persuasive messages.Every major medium is used to deliver these messages,including,television,radio,movies,magazines,newspaper,video games,the internet and billboards.Advertising is often placed by an advertising agency on behalf of a company.

In short,advert

Information for persuading and motivation people so that it will attract them to the service and the thing that are offered or informed.

Gaining attention is a way or expression that is spoken so that other people will pay their attention to what we want to .
